Our Maternity Photoshoot

We had so much fun shooting these beautiful photos and I’m totally blown away with how amazing they turned out! Special thanks to A. Marie Photography for still agreeing to meet up (before the state lockdown) in these crazy times and for making our winter shoot so dreamy and gorgeous. Here are a few of my favorites.

Week 33

How far along: 33 weeks

Genders: Boy & Girl!!

Weight gain: + 2 pounds (30 lbs so far)

New symptoms: Not much new. Still got the reflux and occasional Braxton Hicks contractions.

Restless legs, especially at night time, are out of control and I’ve been taking frequent baths with epsom salt to help them relax so I can sleep. I ordered a body lotion with magnesium chloride that’s specifically made for pregnancy related restless legs and sore muscles from 8 Sheep Organics. I had it customized with lavender essential oils because that is my favorite scent to relax to but it also could come unscented or with bergamot or ylang ylang essential oil scents. I can’t wait to try it out!

Queasy or sick: None this week.

Cravings: Still loving all the sweet stuff, especially cookies and ice cream.

Aversions: Nothing new

Sleep: Restless and way more challenging to get comfortable.

Maternity clothes: Comfy, loose items. Whatever fits.

Stretch marks: nothing new since last week – have the cluster around my belly button which I’m applying my belly oil more liberally now.

Belly button in or out: still in but shallow

Miss anything: being less achy in my belly and pelvis and doing normal things that we would be doing if COVID-19 wasn’t running around

Movement: The kicks and rolls are getting bigger and stronger. It’s reassuring to know that they’re growing and getting big enough to have these strong kicks.

We had our nonstress test at the OB office this week, which they passed with flying colors. Heart rates are running in the 130-140s.

We also had our next measurement ultrasound. Baby Boy is so low in my pelvis they were only able to get limited measurements of his head, but from what they could get they determined he’s measuring a few days behind and weighing in at 4 pounds 15 ounces. Baby Girl is measuring on track and weighing in at 5 pounds 8 ounces. I imagine if we can keep going another 2 weeks they’ll be between 6-7 pounds each. Also we were able to get great face and profile shots of Baby Girl this time. You can see her cute little nose and lips really well. 🙂

Week 32

How far along: 32 weeks (8 months!)

Genders: Boy & Girl!!

Weight gain: + 3 pounds (28 lbs so far)

New symptoms: Lots of acid reflux this week. The belly is pushing outward more and squishing my stomach so if I bend over for too long I can feel it in my throat. If I’m sitting upright for too long at a time I start to get achy and some numbness/tingling under my right breast.

Queasy or sick: None this week.

Cravings: Any and all cookies, especially Oreo ice cream and Reese’s chocolate chip.

Aversions: Nothing new

Sleep: Restless and way more challenging to get comfortable.

Maternity clothes: Comfy, loose items. Whatever fits.

Stretch marks: whelp… I knew they were coming! Quite a few having started to show up around my belly button as that is where I’m currently stretching out.

Belly button in or out: still in but shallow

Miss anything: being less achy in my belly and pelvis

Movement: Lots of movement every day! Started to feel some hiccups this week too, especially from baby girl. I love it. 🙂

Week 31

How far along: 31 weeks

Genders: Boy & Girl!!

Weight gain: + 3 pounds (25 lbs so far)

New symptoms: Definitely feeling more full with my belly aching, especially along the top. Braxton Hicks contractions have picked up and are a little more intense.

We had a little scare this week with too many contractions (one every 6-8 minutes) in 2 hours at work so I went to the maternity department to be triaged and assessed. After 6 hours they did end up slowing down and I was able to go home without further intervention needed. I did find out that I am already 1 cm dilated with 40-50% effacement of my cervix so things are starting to progress towards labor, which my OB said is common to be early with twins, but not enough to worry about just yet. Just been taking it easy this week and enjoying some time off work.

Queasy or sick: None this week.

Cravings: nothing new this week.

Aversions: Nothing new

Sleep: Restless and way more challenging to get comfortable.

Maternity clothes: Comfy, loose items. Had two fun outfits for our maternity shoot this week, which fortunately was still able to take place. We were at an outdoor park so that helped to keep our social distance.

Stretch marks: nothing new since last week – keeping up on the belly oil

Belly button in or out: still in but shallow

Miss anything: being less achy in my belly and pelvis

Movement: Their rolls and kicks are getting more intense which means they’re getting bigger and stronger so I don’t mind that as much.

Andrew is working from home now and I’ve been in more nesting mode, especially since the government issued a stay at home order. The nursery is pretty much ready, our diaper bag is packed, and our hospital bag is nearly finished being packed. The last class of our childbirth class got cancelled due to the pandemic but I feel mostly ready for that part. We just need to have them keep cooking and getting bigger still!

Week 30

How far along: 30 weeks! Less than 8 to go

Genders: Boy & Girl!!

Weight gain: + 2 pounds (22 lbs so far)

New symptoms: Starting to get a bloody nose every once in a while with the dry air. We’ve kicked on the humidifier but it doesn’t seem to be helping much.

Queasy or sick: None this week.

Cravings: Still milk and mint flavored things. My husband’s been buying me all the mint ice cream. Haha!

Aversions: Nothing new

Sleep: Restless but satisfying.

Maternity clothes: Comfy stuff

Stretch marks: A second new little dark vein/stretch mark has appeared a few inches above the first one. I’ve also noticed some light pink ones around my belly button.

Belly button in or out: still in but shallow

Miss anything: Not waddling and feeling like I could breath normally.

Movement: We got to see the sweet little babes on an ultrasound this week. Baby girl is back to being head down but with her legs over her head – so funny! Baby boy is still head down as he has been this whole pregnancy.

Things are starting to shut down in the country. No more gatherings of people, certain businesses are being required to close, and people are starting to stockpile items (mostly toilet paper). We haven’t jumped on that bandwagon yet but I have been wanting to get groceries and keep the cars filled with gas. Times and people are starting to get crazy!

Week 29

How far along: 29 weeks

Genders: Boy & Girl!!

Weight gain: – 1 pound

New symptoms: My appetite is picking up again and I’m able to eat more at one time, which is not good for the acid reflux that has also come with this increased hunger. It’s a double-edged sword. Haha!

Queasy or sick: None this week.

Cravings: I’ve been wanting more milk and anything minty flavored. I discovered the Ben and Jerry’s ice cream flavor Minter Wonderland and it is heaven! Dark chocolate mint ice cream with chocolate cookie chunks. It tastes like the girl scout cookies Thin Mints which I finally caved and bought some this week!

Aversions: Nothing new

Sleep: Restless but somewhat satisfying

Maternity clothes: anything loose and not tight on my belly

Stretch marks: nothing new since before

Belly button in or out: still in but shallow

Miss anything: feeling less full

Movement: Rolling around a lot and stronger kicks!

The novel coronavirus is picking up here in the US and I’m starting to get a little worried for what that will mean for the future of my job as an ER nurse and for this pregnancy. I hope more information comes out soon if it affects unborn babies or new babies because these guys will be coming any time! We started taking childbirth classes this week and it is pretty informative. Glad we’re getting prepared.

Week 28

How far along: 28 weeks

Genders: Boy & Girl!!

Weight gain: + 0 pounds

New symptoms: The restless legs are real now! Whenever I’m settling down for the night to sleep my legs get the crawling feeling like they need to be moving. It’s super annoying when I’m so tired. I just have to either reposition myself, suck it up and just wiggle my legs around a lot, or get up and walk for a few minutes.

Queasy or sick: None this week.

Cravings: nothing new this week.

Aversions: Nothing new

Sleep: I’m waking up every hour or two to per and switch positions so it doesn’t feel super restful.

Maternity clothes: anything stretchy and not tight on my belly

Stretch marks: nothing new since last week

Belly button in or out: still in but shallow

Miss anything: being less achy in my belly and back

Movement: They’re keeping to the schedule so far and I can tell when they’re rolling around a lot more than before.

We had our glucose tolerance test this week and the drink really wasn’t that bad. Tasted like super sugary, flat Sprite. We passed the test as well so no gestational diabetes for me. Yay!

Our Baby Shower

We had so much fun at our baby shower! It was hosted by my sister-in-law Abby and my mother-in-law Amy. The theme we went with was sweet little bunnies and a pink and blue color scheme. It looked beautiful and it was great to see everyone come support our little nuggets. My mom flew in from Florida to celebrate with us which was really special for me. 🙂

Week 27

How far along: 27 weeks – hello third trimester!

Genders: Boy & Girl!!

Weight gain: + 1 pound

New symptoms: I developed one dark stretch mark on the left side of my belly, it looks like a vein to be honest so I didn’t think much of it at first but I think it’s here to stay! Lots more pelvic girdle pain, especially if I’m laying around too much.

Queasy or sick: None this week.

Cravings: ice cold water! When it’s super icy and chill I could easily down several glasses in an hour.

Aversions: Nothing new

Sleep: I’m waking up every hour or two to per and switch positions so it doesn’t feel super restful.

Maternity clothes: my jeans and leggings + my new belly band which is working out very well! I got to wear my beautiful baby shower dress this week. It definitely is flattering to the pregnant belly. 😀

Stretch marks: see above – I’m sure I’ll see more pop up as my belly gets bigger.

Belly button in or out: still in but shallow

Miss anything: just being less achy and able to walk further without being so short of breath.

Movement: The babies are always on the move it seems. I’ve taken to keeping track of their busy times so I can see what schedule they’re on. So far they’re awake and moving every 2.5-3 hours.

Week 26

How far along: 26 weeks

Genders: Boy & Girl!!

Weight gain: + 3 pounds

New symptoms: 2 more varicose veins on my right calf – boo! Hopefully they’ll go away after I deliver! Also right lower rib pressure if I’m slouching too much while sitting. Forces me to sit up straighter.

Queasy or sick: None this week.

Cravings: nothing new this week.

Aversions: Nothing new

Sleep: I’m waking up every hour or two to per and switch positions so it doesn’t feel super restful.

Maternity clothes: my jeans and leggings + my new belly band which is working out very well!

Stretch marks: nothing new yet – keeping fingers crossed

Belly button in or out: still in but shallow

Miss anything: being less achy in my belly and back

Movement: Lots every day! They kick and roll around, especially baby boy on the right. We found out at our ultrasound this week that I had them backwards this whole time. Whoops! And baby girl is facing my back so I don’t feel her as much in the front but she still wiggles around a lot.
